I always turn to myself for inspiration, in times when a model is not easy to have. Self-portraiture not only helped me to accept myself, but also to connect with others, cause what you see there is what other people see and we don’t usually recognize that. However, the current situation created a huge distance between us, and inside us. My work deals with the anxiety of lockdown as a core concept and the process of self-portraiture has been a therapeutic escape. Looking in the mirror, I saw the well-hidden aspects of myself and by delving into my fears I learned that I have the strength to overcome them. My work is a combination of pencil drawings and paper-cut collage.
