Clint Imboden. May 9, 2020. Oakland, California, USA.
A few months ago, creating a self-portrait seemed unfathomable for me as an assemblage artist. Pre-COVID, my work was far from figurative. Two months of home confinement with no access to the flea markets I visit daily, I was left unfocused and unmotivated.
The Corona Portrait project is so far outside of my wheelhouse that it challenged me out of my torpor. I attacked the collections of treasures in my studio and rediscovered forgotten materials, now ready to be transformed into art.
This portrait perfectly captures my Shelter in Place experience - you can see it in my 8 balls!
