Annette M. O’Donnell. April 12, 2020. Chicago, Illinois, USA.

I am a teaching artist who teaches visual art to students ages 11-14. Every artist’s dream is to have the time to make art every day, with no time restrictions. The shelter-in-place orders due to the coronavirus have enabled people to be creative in many ways in their own homes; writing, dancing, producing, cooking, building, drawing, painting, taking photos, etc. While I am a working artist, during this quarantine, I have taken out art materials that I have not used in 30 years, and they still work! For the month of April, I have committed to doing one sketch every day. This self-portrait is me dressed in a costume for my family's secret dress-up Easter dinner that we had while in quarantine.
